Build Your Own Chickpea Burger

This build-your-own chickpea burger recipe is perfect if you want to get creative in the kitchen and try new flavours. In this video we use chili powder and cumin but you can use whatever spices and herbs you want!

Build Your Own Chickpea Burger


  • 1 can chickpeas rinsed
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour may need more
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, packed
  • 1 tbsp oil plus more for frying pan
  • sea salt and pepper to taste

Optional Ingredients - This is where you can flavour it how you want. This is what I chose:

  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder

Optional Toppings

  • Burger buns
  • Lettuce
  • Onion
  • Pickles
  • Condiments


  • Add everything in the food processor except the toppings and blend
  • Either add more water or more flour depending on if your batter is too wet or too dry. You want to be able to roll the dough into balls.
  • Heat a frying pan with oil on mediu, heat.
  • Once the frying pan is heated, roll the dough into balls and flatten into a burger shape in the pan. Cook on both sides until golden brown
  • Serve with whatever toppings you want.
